Mrunal Thakur faces backlash over Old Bipasha Basu remark amid Dhanush dating rumours

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 12: Actress Mrunal Thakur has found herself in the middle of a social media storm — not just over ongoing rumours of her alleged relationship with South superstar Dhanush, but also due to an old video that has resurfaced where she is heard making a remark about actress Bipasha Basu.

The clip, dating back to her television days, features Mrunal in conversation with her Kumkum Bhagya co-star Arjit Taneja about fitness preferences. When Arjit said he preferred a partner with a toned physique, Mrunal replied, “Go marry Bipasha then. Listen, I am far better than Bipasha.” The comment has not gone down well with netizens, who accused her of “pulling down another woman.”

Several users on social media criticised her tone, with some calling her a “typical mean girl” and others stating she “stands nowhere close to Bipasha.” Some even alleged she has a “crass way of talking” and questioned her acting skills.

Meanwhile, dating rumours between Mrunal and Dhanush began after the actor attended the screening of Son of Sardaar 2. Addressing the buzz, Mrunal clarified, “Dhanush is just a good friend to me. He attended the event because Ajay Devgn invited him.”

The controversy comes as Son of Sardaar 2 continues to struggle at the box office, adding to the chatter surrounding the actress.
