Speculation about Perry and Trudeau began after the singer was spotted dining with the former PM in Montreal on July 28, shortly after her split with Bloom. Trudeau was also seen at her sold-out concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre two days later.

While fans and gossip columns buzzed with theories, Bloom responded in an unexpected way. The satirical website The Onion posted a mock article suggesting the British actor had moved on — not with a Hollywood starlet, but with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The spoof described a romantic candlelit dinner between Bloom and Merkel, complete with oysters, chocolate cake, and laughter. To everyone’s amusement, Bloom joined in on the joke, commenting with three clapping emojis under the post, as reported by Indian Express.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who began dating in 2016, got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019 and welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in 2020. They recently confirmed their separation.

Justin Trudeau, meanwhile, announced his separation from wife Sophie Grégoire in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple shares three children.
