Bantwal, Aug 2: A colourful and culturally rich ‘Atida Gammat’ celebration unfolded at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in B C Road, organised by the Bantwal Taluk Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee in association with the Bantwal Taluk Panchayat.

The event brought together a blend of tradition and modern-day appreciation for ancestral wisdom, drawing the participation of local leaders, officials, educators, and community members.

Former minister Ramanath Rai, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the significance of traditional health practices and seasonal observances. “Our ancestors regarded the Aati month as one of hardship and discipline. Their lifestyle practices were deeply rooted in nature and well-being. Through events like these, we reflect on and revive the values and beliefs they cherished,” he noted.

The programme was inaugurated by committee president Jayanthi Poojary, who highlighted the strong inter-departmental support received in executing various initiatives. “Officers across departments have extended commendable cooperation to the Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee’s programmes,” she said.

A thought-provoking lecture was delivered by noted educator Vittal Nayak, who delved into the cultural and historical relevance of the Aati season, underscoring its role in nurturing community health, resilience, and sustainability.
