Mangaluru, Aug 2: On the auspicious occasion of the silver jubilee of St Raymond’s PU College Vamanjoor, an alumni meet was organized with great joy and enthusiasm. The event was held to reconnect with former students and to celebrate 25 glorious years of academic excellence and service.
The programme was presided over by Sr Cicilia Mendonca, the correspondent of the college. The chief guest for the occasion was Sr Lavita, the superior of St Raymond’s Convent. The event also had the gracious presence of the proud alumnus Vivek Nambiar and respected senior lecturer of commerce, Harinakshi and beloved principal Dr Sr Sadhana BS. On the momentous occasion of the silver jubilee of St Raymond’s PU College, an alumni meet was organized to reconnect with the former students and celebrate 25 years of excellence in education.

The programme began with a prayer service led by the choir group of the college, under the guidance of Anitha Ferrao and Avita Menezes This spiritual start set a serene tone for the event. Following this, the audience was treated to a vibrant welcome dance performance by the current students of the college, showcasing their enthusiasm and love for the institution. Adding charm to the occasion, a lively western dance was performed by the enthusiastic alumni, bringing back memories and joy.
The meet began with a traditional and graceful lighting of the lamp ceremony by the dignitaries, symbolizing the light of knowledge and unity. This was followed by a soulful prayer song. Harinakshi, senior lecturer, shared her heartfelt opinion and experiences of watching the college grow over the years. She also appreciated the contributions of the alumni and staff in shaping the institution’s legacy.
Mithuldas, a proud alumnus, shared his heartfelt reflections and experiences, expressing how the college played a significant role in shaping his personal and professional journey. His words resonated deeply with the audience. Another alumnus, Vivek Nambiar, reminisced about his two impactful years at St Raymond’s. He fondly recalled the academic environment, the encouragement from the faculty, and the valuable life lessons that continue to guide him.
Chaithra, one of the proud alumnus, shared her heartfelt experience of being a part of St Raymond's PU College. She expressed how the college played a vital role in shaping her values and personality. She fondly recalled the support of the lecturers and the friendly environment that helped her grow both academically and personally. She also appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with her batchmates and lecturers during the alumni meet.
Anuj, another distinguished alumnus, shared his journey from being a student at St Raymond’s to where he is today. He highlighted the strong foundation laid by the college, which helped him in higher studies and professional life. He thanked the management and staff for their dedication and encouragement. He concluded by wishing the college continued success and growth, especially as it celebrates the silver jubilee.
Sr Cicilia Mendonca, in her presidential address, reflected on the college’s remarkable journey and expressed her pride in the achievements of past and present students. She emphasized the importance of continuing the tradition of excellence and values.
President Sr Cicilia Mendonca selected the silver jubilee committee members from the 2001 to 2025 batch. The selected members then elected Mervin Vas as vice-president, Dr Sr Sadhana as secretary, Iliyas as joint secretary, and Prem as auditor of the Alumni Association."
Mervin Vas, the newly elected vice president of the Alumni Association, expressed his heartfelt gratitude and assured his full support and active involvement in all the initiatives planned for the silver jubilee celebrations."
Dr Sr Sadhana explained the major projects planned for this silver jubilee year, including the establishment of a Science Park, raising funds for deserving students, and providing free uniforms. She also appreciated the valuable presence of the alumnae.
An engaging discussion was held about the upcoming events and plans for the silver jubilee celebrations, inviting ideas and participation from alumni to make it a memorable milestone. The meet concluded with warm interactions, memories, and renewed connections, leaving everyone with a sense of belonging and pride in being part of the St Raymond’s family.
