Kamala Harris to chronicle her 2024 presidential bid in upcoming memoir '107 Days'

Washington, Aug 1: Kamala Harris, the former Vice President of the United States, has announced the release of her new memoir titled "107 Days," which will offer a candid behind-the-scenes look at her short-lived 2024 presidential campaign against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Published by Simon & Schuster, the book is scheduled to hit shelves in the United States on September 23.

In a video message posted on social media Thursday, Harris said, “Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for president of the United States—107 days, traveling the country, fighting for our future—the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.”

Harris, who stepped into the presidential race after President Joe Biden withdrew in July 2024 amid mounting concerns over his cognitive health, said the memoir was written with “candor and reflection.” She promises to shed light on the inner workings of a high-pressure campaign that began with promise but ended in defeat.

The first woman to serve as U.S. Vice President, Harris had largely retreated from the public eye following her loss to Trump in the 2024 election. However, the memoir appears to mark the beginning of a political re-emergence.

In the video, Harris stated, “Sometimes, the fight takes a while,”—a cryptic remark that has only fueled speculation about her future, including a possible run in the 2028 presidential election.

On Wednesday, she ruled out a 2026 California gubernatorial bid, but U.S. media reports suggest she may still harbor national ambitions.

As part of her renewed public outreach, Harris is set to appear on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Thursday. Ironically, CBS recently canceled the flagship late-night show, citing financial reasons, amid controversy surrounding its parent company Paramount. The network had recently settled a $16 million lawsuit filed by Trump over a previous Harris interview aired on CBS's “60 Minutes.”

The timing of the lawsuit settlement came just before Paramount sealed an $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, drawing criticism from media personalities including Colbert.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump didn’t miss the opportunity to take a jab at his former rival. Speaking to reporters Thursday, the Republican leader remarked, “I wouldn’t call her a skilled politician. She can’t talk. She can’t do an interview.” In a sarcastic twist, he added, “Yeah, I think I’m going to buy it. I’d love to see it.”

Adding to the political publishing wave, former Biden administration press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has also announced her upcoming book "Independent." Notably, Jean-Pierre has now distanced herself from the Democratic Party, accusing it of “betraying” former President Biden.

With Harris stepping back into the spotlight, "107 Days" may serve not only as a memoir but also as a launchpad for her next political chapter.
