KMC Hospital, Attavar conducts HDR Brachytherapy training for Armed Forces medical delegates

Mangaluru, Jul 31: A comprehensive HDR Brachytherapy training programme is currently underway at KMC Hospital, Attavar from July 28 to August 1, for delegates from the Armed Forces medical services.

Participants include medical officers from Command Hospital (Bengaluru), INHS Asvini (Mumbai), Command Hospital (Lucknow), and Command Hospital (Kolkata).

The programme is being conducted under the academic collaboration formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangaluru and BEBIG Medical Solutions, Germany, a global leader in brachytherapy technology and education.

KMC Hospital Attavar Oncology Centre, the regional referral centre for advanced cancer care, is known for regularly performing complex brachytherapy procedures. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure and skilled multidisciplinary team, the centre stands as a leading hub for precision radiotherapy in coastal Karnataka.

The ongoing training includes hands-on sessions, treatment planning workshops, quality assurance protocols, and exposure to international best practices. The faculty from the Department of Radiation Oncology is facilitating the sessions with a focus on clinical excellence and technical expertise.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of KMC Mangaluru and the Armed Forces Medical Services to advance cancer treatment capabilities and promote cross-institutional knowledge sharing.
