Lourdes Central School hosts 'Be aware, Be safe, Be you' awareness programme

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 31: As part of Lourdes Central School’s commitment to nurturing responsible, confident and safety-aware students, an awareness programme titled “Be aware, Be safe, Be you” was conducted on July 30 for the students of classes III and IV. The sessions were held simultaneously—girls assembled in the SJ Block Auditorium, while the boys gathered in the LCS Conference Hall. The initiative aimed to empower students with knowledge about personal safety, healthy habits, and emotional well-being.

The programme began with a soulful prayer in both venues, followed by welcome speeches Arna S Boloor for the girls, and Pradeep and Arush from class IV for the boys.

The girls session was conducted by Sr Regeena, the school counsellor, who guided them through topics such as social safety, self-awareness, bodily changes including menstruation, and the value of each person as a gift of God. She also addressed the negative impact of excessive screen time. A lively action song reinforced the session’s core message of self-worth. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Aadvi, Adhya, Avani, and Niharika of class IV, while Joan from class III confidently managed the event as MC.

The boys session was led by Mable D’Souza, special educator of the school, who discussed important topics such as good and bad touch, screen time and behavioral changes, discipline, cleanliness, healthy eating, sleep routines, and an age-appropriate introduction to the POCSO Act, 2012. The content was practical and student-friendly, with opportunities for interaction. Ethan and Samarth of class IV served as MCs, and Advik of class III delivered the vote of thanks.

Throughout sessions, class III and IV teachers were present, guiding and supervising the students, ensuring a smooth and effective learning experience.

In summary, the “Be aware, Be safe, Be you” programme was a valuable and enlightening experience for all students. It helped raise awareness, built confidence, and equipped them with essential life skills to navigate the world safely and responsibly.
