Sonu Sood celebrates 52nd birthday with simple meal and big heart

Mumbai, Jul 30: Turning 52 on Wednesday, actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood chose to keep his birthday celebration grounded and heartfelt — much like the man himself. Speaking to IANS, the Fateh actor shared that he marked the occasion with a humble meal of dal and roti, staying true to his vegetarian lifestyle.

"I am a vegetarian, dal roti is enough for me," Sood said with a smile.

But the day wasn’t just about cake and candles. In a touching gesture, Sood announced the launch of an old-age home that will shelter 500 senior citizens — a gift not for himself, but for the community.

“There is no gift bigger than the love and blessings people give me. That’s what keeps me going,” he added, reflecting on the emotional connection he shares with his well-wishers.

The new facility promises more than just shelter. It aims to provide medical care, nutritious meals, and emotional support, creating a safe and dignified space for the elderly. This initiative adds to Sood’s growing legacy of humanitarian work, which gained national attention during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he helped migrant workers, students, and patients in need.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also joined in the celebrations, posting on X (formerly Twitter):

“Happy Birthday to the ever-inspiring Sonu Sood! Your selfless philanthropy and support for those in need have touched countless lives. May your year ahead be filled with strength to keep making a difference.”

Fans gathered outside Sood’s residence with flowers and cheers, as the actor celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony and a shower of flower petals — a scene captured in a widely-shared video on social media.

Whether it’s a modest plate of dal or a bold new philanthropic mission, Sonu Sood continues to inspire — one good deed at a time.
