Mumbai, Jul 25: Bollywood actor Tanushree Dutta, who triggered India’s #MeToo movement in 2018, has once again made explosive revelations, claiming she has been subjected to continuous harassment for the past five years and no longer feels safe in Mumbai.
In an emotional interview, the former Miss India Universe said a viral video of her crying was the result of “an emotional outburst” caused by prolonged mental trauma. “My home was broken into, locks tampered with, and a maid was planted who mixed unknown substances in my food. This has been happening ever since I spoke up during the #MeToo movement,” she said.
Tanushree revealed she was once set to act alongside the late Sushant Singh Rajput and believes their cases are eerily similar. “There is a deeper connection between Sushant’s death and the harassment I’m facing. Our struggles are not unrelated,” she said.
During a recent spiritual trip to Ujjain, she claimed there was an attempt to kill her when someone allegedly tampered with her autorickshaw’s brakes. “It feels like I’m being mentally tortured to either end up like Sushant Singh Rajput or go mad like Pooja Mishra,” she said.
The actor renewed her allegations against Nana Patekar, stating she has been targeted ever since she raised questions about his foundation. “A Rs 5 crore contract was handed to the underworld to eliminate me. The underworld may look different now, but it still exists,” she alleged.
She said she is being followed constantly and feels mentally cornered. “I want to record every incident properly and submit it to the police. So far, they’ve done nothing. I trust the media more than law enforcement,” she added.
On social media, Tanushree said she is overwhelmed with interview requests and is trying to respond slowly. “I’ve lived a simple, spiritual life in recent years. Please bear with me,” she posted on Instagram.
Speaking about her 2018 experience with police, she said, “They encouraged me to file an FIR. I gave a detailed statement and followed up, but no action was taken. In Maharashtra, harassers are shielded by political connections. There is no real hope for justice.”
Tanushree had earlier accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during the shoot of Horn Ok Pleassss in 2009. The actor denied all allegations.
