‘Saiyaara’ box office day 6: Ahaan Panday’s debut film storms past Rs 150 crore mark, sets benchmark

New Delhi, Jul 24: Mohit Suri’s musical drama Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has emerged as the year’s biggest surprise blockbuster. The film has officially crossed the Rs 150 crore milestone within just six days of release, raking in Rs 21 crore on Wednesday alone and taking the total collection to Rs 153.25 crore.

Despite a slight dip in Wednesday's earnings compared to Tuesday, the film remains unstoppable at the box office. Interestingly, Tuesday’s collections were higher than Monday’s, bolstered by discounted ticket pricing at major multiplex chains — a strategy that paid off handsomely for the makers.

Released under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara had already made headlines by collecting Rs 83 crore over its opening weekend and entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club on Day 4 — surpassing the pace of even some major star-studded releases, including Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which failed to hit the same benchmark.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh lauded the film’s consistency on social media, stating, “What makes Saiyaara’s run truly remarkable is that it’s thriving during regular weekdays — with no big holiday boost. The love from audiences is loud and clear.”

Set against the backdrop of love, loss, and heartbreak, Saiyaara narrates the emotional journey of Krish Kapoor, a struggling musician played by debutant Ahaan Panday, and Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), a gifted writer battling early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

With no pre-release promotions by the lead pair and the film relying purely on word-of-mouth, Saiyaara has defied industry norms and is now eyeing the Rs 200 crore mark.

If the current momentum continues, Saiyaara may go down as one of the most successful debut films in recent Bollywood history.
