While prevention lies with states, the Centre has ramped up support through initiatives like the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, and the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting System.

Over Rs 5,489 crore was saved in more than 17.8 lakh fraud cases, and a 24x7 helpline (1930) is now active. Authorities have blocked over 9.4 lakh SIMs and 2.6 lakh IMEIs linked to cybercrime.

Public awareness efforts have included caller tunes, metro ads, cinema spots, and involvement of influencers, with campaigns even reaching events like IPL and Kumbh Mela.
