Goan women appointed as Konkani interpreters in Lok Sabha

Canacona, Jul 12: In a proud moment for Goa, Samiksha Velip from Canacona and Gauri Mavlinkar from Mapusa have been appointed as Konkani interpreters in the Lok Sabha by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

Samiksha Velip, hailing from Bhupar-Gaondongrim, is an alumna of the Department of Konkani at Shree Mallikarjun & Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, and completed her post-graduation in Konkani from Goa University.

Congratulating her on the achievement, college Principal Dr Rupa Chari said, “Samiksha Velip’s appointment as a Konkani Interpreter in the Lok Sabha is a matter of pride for our institution and a true source of inspiration for our students. We wish her continued success in the future.”

Gauri Mavlinkar, the other Goan woman selected, cleared the Consultant Interpreters Empanelment Test to secure the prestigious role.

Their appointments mark a significant milestone for Konkani language representation in the Indian Parliament.
