Goa, Jul 10: In a touching display of gratitude and pride, a special moment unfolded aboard an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Goa, where Gauri Dhavalikar, the First Officer of the flight, delivered an emotional announcement dedicated to her father, former Goa minister Deepak Dhavalikar, who happened to be among the passengers.
As the flight prepared for its journey, Gauri took to the aircraft intercom to greet passengers in the customary manner. However, what followed turned into a heartfelt tribute that left many on board teary-eyed and clapping. With a poised voice filled with emotion, she said, “This is a very special flight for me today. My father is travelling with me. For the first time, I’m flying him back home to Goa while I’m the pilot and he’s the passenger.”
Passengers burst into applause as Gauri acknowledged her father, visibly moved in his seat, and concluded with, “A special thank you to my father for giving me the whole world and making all my dreams come true.”
The video, shared on social media by Prabhav Naik, quickly went viral, receiving widespread appreciation for the touching father-daughter moment. The announcement not only showcased the emotional bond between the two but also highlighted the pride of a parent witnessing his child soar to new heights — quite literally.
Deepak Dhavalikar, a two-time MLA from the Priol constituency, served as a minister in the Manohar Parrikar-led government between 2012 and 2016. He currently heads the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), the first ruling party of Goa post-liberation from Portuguese rule in 1961. His brother, Sudin Dhavalikar, a six-time legislator from Marcaim, is a former Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
The in-flight moment, now cherished by many online, is being celebrated as a rare blend of personal achievement and public service, capturing the essence of familial pride in a truly unforgettable way.
