Police urge media restraint in Dharmasthala case; ask to avoid speculation

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Amidst widespread media and social media discussions surrounding the ongoing investigation in the Dharmasthala case registered under Section 211 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police have issued a statement urging restraint and responsible reporting.

In their statement, police clarified that any concrete developments or information deemed necessary to be shared with the public will be communicated through official channels. Mainstream media have been advised to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court and the Press Council of India (PCI) concerning media trials during ongoing investigations.

The statement further emphasized that the police will not comment on the manner or direction of the investigation, nor will they respond to conjectures, assumptions, or numerous speculative angles being circulated.

Additionally, the police noted that they cannot offer any remarks on materials allegedly shared by the complainant or on their behalf directly with the media, if such materials have not yet been formally presented to or verified by the police.
