Mumbai, Jul 9: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar took to social media to express his deep appreciation for Anupam Kher’s directorial venture Tanvi The Great, calling it a profoundly moving experience that left him teary-eyed.
In a heartfelt note shared on his Instagram Stories, the Airlift and Kesari Chapter 2 actor admitted that though he watched the film a bit late, its emotional depth left a lasting impact. “A little late to the party, but so glad I watched this. #TanviTheGreat is a moving, emotional ride that truly had me in tears and rooting with all my heart for Tanvi,” he wrote, while sharing the film’s trailer. He also sent his best wishes to Anupam Kher and the team behind the project, praising their heartfelt storytelling.

Tanvi The Great, which premiered in theatres on July 18, marks the acting debut of Shubhangi and features a stellar ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, and Nasser in key roles. Kher himself, along with Iain Glen, appears in a special role. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner.
The film has garnered praise from several industry veterans. Shah Rukh Khan, sharing his admiration on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “To my friend @AnupamPKher who has always taken chances... whether it’s acting, filmmaking or life!! Director Anupam Kher described Tanvi The Great as a tribute to individuality and determination. “Everyone who watches Tanvi The Great will walk away a little kinder, perhaps even changed,” Kher shared. “This film is my tribute to every person who is different but no less. It’s the story of an autistic, brilliant, and fiercely determined girl who dreams of joining the Indian Army. It’s one of the most important films of my career.”
