Patna, Jul 8: In a swift breakthrough, Bihar Police have arrested the main conspirator Ashok Saw and shooter Umesh Yadav in connection with the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka, who was gunned down near Gandhi Maidan late on July 4.

Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that the murder was rooted in personal enmity over property and the Bakipur Club. Ashok Saw allegedly paid Umesh Yadav Rs 4 lakh, including an advance of Rs 50,000, to carry out the killing.

Khemka, who was returning home around 11:30 PM on July 4, was followed by Umesh from Bakipur Club. As Khemka waited at the gate of his apartment, Umesh shot him at close range and fled via bike.

Police tracked the shooter through CCTV footage and local intel in Malsalami, where the murder weapon and related items were recovered. During interrogation, Umesh confessed and revealed Ashok Saw’s role.

A raid at Saw’s flat led to the seizure of another pistol, ammunition, property documents, and the phone used to coordinate the hit.

Both men have been booked under BNS Sections 103, 27, and the Arms Act, with further investigation underway. The arrests have brought a sense of relief in Patna after the high-profile killing.
