Udupi, Jul 5: A suo moto complaint has been lodged against SDPI state secretary Riyaz Kadambu for allegedly making provocative and misleading statements aimed at disturbing communal harmony.
According to the complaint, the incident took place around 6 pm on July 5, when the complainant came across a video on social media via WhatsApp. In the video, Riyaz Kadambu is seen addressing the media regarding a recent incident in Kunjal, Brahmavar, Udupi, where a cow head was reportedly found on the roadside.
In the video, Kadambu claimed that the police had arrested the real culprits in the case and criticized members of the Sangh Parivar and BJP, alleging that they habitually blame Muslims without evidence in such situations. He further stated that such incidents are often used as a diversionary tactic to shift public attention away from corruption and developmental issues in Udupi, including scams and alleged embezzlement involving local MLAs.
Kadambu went on to allege that the recent incident appeared to be a pre-planned act orchestrated by Sangh Parivar members, accusing them of creating unrest and communal tension. He also criticized Sangh Parivar leader Sharan Pumpwell for his recent inflammatory statements calling Muslims ‘main jihadists’ and ‘religious extremists’.
The complainant has accused Riyaz Kadambu of making baseless allegations, spreading misinformation, and inciting communal disharmony through his public statements.
Earlier a similar suo moto case was registered against VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell for provocative statements on the Kunjal cow head incident.
