Rajnandgaon, Jun 27: A 45-year-old self-styled yoga guru, Tarun Kranti Agrawal alias Sonu, was arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district after police seized nearly 2 kg of cannabis from his ashram near Pragya Giri hills, close to the famous Dongargarh temple.

Agrawal, who recently returned from Goa after a decade running ‘The Krantis’ yoga centre, had purchased five acres of land near the tourist spot and begun constructing an ashram. Police began investigating after receiving complaints of drug use involving minors and tourists on the premises.

“We raided the place on June 25 and recovered 1.993 kg of cannabis. He has been booked under the NDPS Act and remanded to judicial custody,” said SP Mohit Garg.

Police are also probing Agrawal’s claims of visiting several countries and running 10 NGOs. His passport will be seized as investigations into these organisations begin.

A native of Dongargarh, Agrawal had left home 20 years ago and allegedly used social media to promote his yoga brand.
