Mangaluru: Annual educational conference of MCHMPA held

Mangaluru, Jun 26: The Mangalore Catholic Headmasters and Principals Association (MCHMPA) organized its annual educational conference on Thursday,June 26 at the Rosario Cultural Hall.

The event was graced by several dignitaries including DDPI Govinda Madivala, Fr Robert D’Souza, parish priest of Allipade Church, Bantwal; Rajalakshmi K., principal of DIET; Sumangala Naik, deputy secretary, SSK; Stany Barretto, former vice principal of Milagres School; Lakshmi Narayana, SSLC nodal officer, Dakshina Kannada; Venkatesh, in-charge BEO of Beltangady; Aloysius D’Souza, honorary president of MCHMPA; Jayavanthi Soans, president of MCHMPA; Jayashree, president of DKHMPA; and Matilda D’Costa, secretary of MCHMPA.

The programme began with a prayer by students of St Rita English Medium School, Cascia, followed by the welcome address delivered by Jayavanthi Soans. The event was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp.

Fr Robert D’Souza, in his address, commended the selfless service of headmasters and teachers and urged students to become responsible citizens contributing to nation-building.

DDPI Govinda Madivala congratulated the students and schools for their dedication, lauded Dakshina Kannada for securing the top rank in the SSLC exams, and encouraged schools to support low scorers more effectively.

Rajalakshmi K. congratulated the toppers and headmasters for their exceptional performance.

Former vice principal Stany Barretto honoured the toppers with a sponsorship of Rs 50,000 for students from English and Kannada medium schools. Surekha sponsored Rs 10,000 for the top-performing girl student from a Kannada medium school.

DDPI Govinda Madivala and DIET principal Rajalakshmi were also felicitated for their roles in helping Dakshina Kannada district achieve the top rank in the SSLC board exams.

Retired headmasters from member schools were honoured on this occasion. School toppers of SSLC 2024–25 and headmasters of schools that achieved 100% results were also felicitated.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Matilda D’Costa. Following the conference, the Annual General Body Meeting of MCHMPA was held.
