New Delhi, Jun 26: India’s dominance as the preferred global destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) continues unabated, with a new report by PwC projecting robust growth and sustained foreign interest in the country’s evolving digital and innovation ecosystem.
According to a study cited by news agency ANI, fewer than 25% of global business leaders are contemplating shifting their GCC operations out of India. On the contrary, most organisations are doubling down on their India presence, aiming to transform these centres into high-value, innovation-driven global hubs.
The PwC report estimates that India could see the establishment of over 150 new GCCs in the near future, further reinforcing its reputation as a global powerhouse for IT services, business process management, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and data analytics.
Calling for strategic infrastructural investments, the report stresses the need for both national and state governments to enhance physical and digital infrastructure. This, it noted, would be crucial in maintaining momentum and strengthening India’s stature in the global GCC landscape.
Industry voices quoted in the report recommend a series of reforms to bolster India’s appeal—ranging from improving ease of doing business to tightening digital infrastructure and offering regulatory clarity. The report also emphasises that GCCs in India have evolved from being cost-effective support arms to becoming full-fledged centres of excellence, deeply aligned with the strategic growth plans of multinational corporations.
Currently, the value growth of GCCs in India is estimated at 11–12% for the FY25–FY29 period. With targeted policy interventions and infrastructure upgrades, this figure could potentially rise to 14–15%, achieving a weighted average compound annual growth rate (CAGR) increase of 3–4%, the report predicts.
As India cements its status as a digital transformation leader, the study underscores the pivotal role of government support in retaining the country's pole position in the global GCC arena.
