Mumbai, Jun 26: Aamir Khan's much-awaited return to the silver screen, Sitaare Zameen Par, has been making waves at the box office, maintaining a strong grip on its collections even on weekdays. The emotional sports drama, which hit theatres six days ago, has garnered an impressive total of Rs 82.40 crore, underscoring the superstar’s box office pull and the film’s wide urban appeal.

On Wednesday, the film added Rs 7.25 crore to its tally—slightly below its Monday and Tuesday earnings, which hovered around Rs 8 crore each. Despite the minor dip, trade experts say the film’s weekday performance remains "impressively stable", especially since it did not resort to discounted ticket pricing on Tuesday, a strategy several other films have recently employed to boost footfalls.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in his update on social media, noted the film’s consistent performance beyond major metros. “#SitaareZameenPar maintains a rock-steady trend on Tuesday – the numbers are at par with Monday. Business continues to be driven by urban centres and premium properties,” he posted, drawing comparisons with Raid 2, which followed a similar trend recently.

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir Khan’s comeback after a three-year hiatus. The film stars Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, Dolly Ahluwalia and features ten neurodivergent debutant actors in significant roles. The story, blending humour, emotion and the rigor of a physically demanding sport, delivers a heartfelt message on the resilience of the human spirit.

Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for NDTV, rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, calling it “a touching celebration of courage amidst adversity, be it physical, mental or social.”

With solid word-of-mouth and sustained interest from urban audiences, Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to continue its successful run into the second weekend, possibly inching closer to the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
