Glowinstar Integrated School celebrates International Yoga Day

Udupi, Jun 24: Glowinstar Integrated School enthusiastically celebrated International Yoga Day and marked the inauguration of extra-curricular activities on June 20 in the school auditorium.

The event began with a solemn prayer song, setting a serene tone for the morning. Headmistress Shantha Fernandes extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and all the external resource persons who train students in extracurricular activities such as drawing, dance, calligraphy, abacus and school band.

The programme was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, Preethi Manoj Shetty, a renowned yoga instructor, who lit the ceremonial lamp along with the principal Dr T J Quadros and the headmistress, Shantha Fernandes.

In his address, Dr T J Quadros emphasised the relevance of yoga in helping students manage stress, stay focused and grow into healthier individuals. He also highlighted the significance of extra-curricular activities in nurturing creativity, confidence and holistic development among students.

Preethi Manoj Shetty elaborated on the theme, “Yoga for one earth, one health”, emphasising the global benefits of practising yoga for physical, mental and environmental well-being. She captivated the students with a demonstration of various asanas and breathing exercises. They immersed themselves in the yoga session with great enthusiasm and cherished every posture as a moment of tranquillity and harmony. Their joy and involvement reflected a deep appreciation for the practice.

The programme was gracefully compered by Gayathri. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sumana, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
