Mangaluru, Jun 23: The Department of Social Science and Humanities under the Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), in collaboration with the Institute of Education, Department of BA Journalism and Mass Communication and BCom, successfully organised International Yoga Day on June 21. The event was a vibrant celebration of health, mindfulness, and unity, aligned with this year’s global theme: “Yoga for Self and Society.”
The guest and the Yoga instructor of the event was Shashank C P, founder of Yoga Kshema – Yoga Therapy Centre, Naguri, Mangaluru. With his extensive experience in therapeutic yoga, Shashank shared deep insights and practical techniques, significantly enriching the learning experience for all participants.





The programme commenced with a warm welcome and opening address by Dr Venkatesh S Amin, Dean of IMC, who emphasised the relevance of yoga in everyday life and its holistic benefits for physical and mental well-being.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr Padmanabha C H, Dean of the Institute of Education, along with distinguished heads of various departments: Prof Joyson Prenky Cardoza (HoD, SSH), Prof Sushmitha (HoD, BAJMC), Prof Sharmila Shetty (HoD, BCom) and Prof Supriya Adiga (Physical Director).
Students from the MSW, BAJMC, Education, and BCom programmes actively participated in the celebration. Two yoga sessions were conducted in separate batches by the guest, ensuring inclusive participation and a focused experience for all students.
