Washington, Jun 23: A series of mass shootings in the United States left several people injured in two separate incidents reported from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Indianapolis, Indiana, local authorities confirmed on Monday.

In Pittsburgh, gunfire broke out late Sunday night near North Saint Clair Street and Broad Street in the East Liberty neighbourhood. The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety said officers from Zone 5 were dispatched shortly after 11:45 p.m. following two separate ShotSpotter alerts, which detected a total of fourteen gunshots.

As police were on their way, multiple emergency calls began flooding in, reporting several people shot. Pittsburgh EMS transported three individuals to nearby hospitals: one in critical condition, another initially in serious but later downgraded to critical condition, and a third victim in stable condition with a graze wound.

Separately, two more victims — both with gunshot wounds — arrived at Children's Hospital via private vehicle and were reported to be in stable condition.

In addition to the five gunshot victims, EMS treated approximately ten others at the scene for minor injuries, including graze wounds and injuries from falls during the chaos. These individuals did not require hospitalisation.

The Mobile Crime Unit has since recovered shell casings from the scene and is reviewing surveillance footage. The investigation is being led by the Violent Crime Unit, and no arrests have been made as of now.

Just hours later in Indianapolis, three more individuals were injured in a shooting near Monument Circle early Monday morning. According to local media reports, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to gunfire at the intersection of South Meridian and West Washington Streets.
On arrival, officers found three victims with gunshot wounds. All three were transported to hospitals and are currently reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities in both cities have launched investigations into the incidents. No suspects have been publicly identified at this time, and the motives behind the shootings remain unclear.
