Trump claims ‘Monumental Damage’ to Iran’s nuclear sites in US strikes

Washington, Jun 23: US President Donald Trump has asserted that the recent American strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities caused "monumental damage," pointing to satellite images of the Fordow site as evidence.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump said, “Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term… The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!”

The US carried out ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’ on Sunday, striking nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Trump claimed the operation was a precision strike intended to cripple Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity.

However, Iranian officials have downplayed the impact. State TV reported that uranium and other key substances had been evacuated from the sites before the strikes.

A Reuters report also quoted nuclear experts who suggested Iran may have pre-emptively moved its stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium out of Fordow.

“There’s almost certainly facilities that we don’t know about,” said Jeffrey Lewis of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, noting that the US strikes may only delay Iran’s nuclear program by a few years.

While Washington hailed the operation as a strategic success, concerns remain over whether the attack will escalate the Iran-Israel conflict and push Tehran to retaliate.
