Day 8 of Tredicina at St Anthony Ashram Jeppu, embrace message of hope and reflection

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 7: The eighth day of the ongoing Tredicina devotion in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony of Padua was devoutly observed at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, on Saturday, June 7.

The theme of the day, 'Reflect the word of God and journey as pilgrims of hope', invited the faithful to become living witnesses of the gospel by embracing and embodying the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.

At the evening Mass at Milagres Church, the main celebrant was Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, principal of Padua College, Mangaluru. In his homily, Fr Arun Lobo highlighted the transformative power of the word of god, encouraging the congregation to make scripture a part of their prayer, relationships, and actions. He noted that St Anthony, known as the evangelical doctor, deeply meditated on the scriptures and lived it out with simplicity and power.

The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Fr J B Crasta, director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, and Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, assistant director.

After the Mass, Fr Vivian Rodrigues led the novena devotion, offering the faithful's prayers and petitions to St Anthony, the miracle worker. The atmosphere was filled with faith and reverence as devotees joined in hymns, litany, and prayerful silence, trusting in the saint’s intercession.

At St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, the day began with Masses at 6:00 am and 11:30 am, followed by free lunch for all devotees—a tradition that reflects the Ashram's mission of service and solidarity with the poor.
