Mangaluru, Jun 7: As part of the World Environment Day activities, the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University organized a pick and speak competition titled ‘Speak for the Green’ on June 5. The event was conducted with the support and encouragement of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean of the institute. The main purpose of the competition was to motivate students to talk about important environmental issues and to help them improve their public speaking skills by expressing their thoughts clearly and confidently.
A total of 14 students from different programmes, BBA aviation management, BBA aviation & logistics management, BBA aviation travel and tourism management, and MBA aviation management participated in the event. Each student was given a topic on the spot, such as climate change, acid rain, and deforestation, and was asked to speak for a short period. Despite the challenge of speaking without preparation, all participants did a great job sharing their views and raising awareness about these serious environmental problems.

Rithika Vijay Murudeshwara from III BBA aviation management won first place for her confident and meaningful speech, while Mohammed Sinan from II BBA aviation & logistics management secured second place for his thoughtful presentation. The event provided a valuable opportunity for students to think deeply about how human actions affect the planet and to express their ideas in a clear and focused way. It was a successful and engaging activity that not only improved communication skills but also encouraged students to become more aware and responsible towards the environment.
