Panaji, May 27: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced that the Goa government will soon identify a tourist destination in the state to be developed into a world-class attraction, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to all states to create at least one globally competitive tourism hub.

Sawant said the decision was taken following Modi’s suggestion during the NITI Aayog meeting held on Saturday. “The Prime Minister has asked every state to create a global-standard tourist destination. Around 25-30 such destinations can be developed across the country,” he said.

Sawant held discussions with Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on the proposal. “We will identify a beach or a scenic location and develop infrastructure matching global standards. A to Z global facilities will be available at the selected site,” he added.

He also invited global investors to participate in Goa’s tourism growth and reiterated the government’s focus on five pillars of development infrastructure, economic, social, institutional, and environmental.
