'Yogotsav 2025' marks 28th countdown day to IDY at Yenepoya Campus, Deralakatte

Mangaluru, May 24: As part of the Ministry of Ayush’s nationwide initiative “100 Days, 100 Cities, 100 Organisations” leading up to the International Day of Yoga (IDY), Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, a unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), hosted the grand Yogotsav 2025 at the Yendurance Zone, Deralakatte campus, on Saturday, May 24.

The event began at the break of dawn with an inaugural ceremony. Esteemed dignitaries including Dr Anandh K, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, Dakshina Kannada, Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, chairman of the Allied Health Care Council Karnataka, Dr Mohammed Iqbaal, District Ayush officer, and Praveen Bagambila, vice president of Kotekar Town Panchayat, inaugurated the event. Dr Ashwini Dutt, dean academics at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), presided over the programme.

Dr Puneeth Raghavendra, principal of the college, welcomed the guests, while Dr Sangeethalaxmi M J, associate professor, proposed the vote of thanks.

Following the formal inauguration, a mass yoga session featuring the common yoga protocol was held from 7 am to 7:45 am. The serene morning practice brought together approximately 520 participants, including students, medical professionals, invited guests, and local residents, all united in a spirit of wellness and mindfulness.

A key highlight of the day was the Continuing Medical Education (CME) session organised on the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, tailored for students of naturopathy and yogic sciences.

Dr Vrinda Bedekar, professor, department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Prasanna College of Ayurveda, Belthangady, delivered an insightful lecture on “YOGA: Path to Global Wellness.” Dr Kiran Kumar Reddy, principal & medical superintendent, Rajashekharaiah Institute of naturopathy and yogic sciences, Nelamangala, shared his expertise on “Inner Harmony through Yogic Lifestyle.” The CME witnessed participation from 230 students.

The entire programme was streamed live on the Yenepoya YouTube channel and simultaneously broadcasted by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
