New Delhi, May 24: In a heartbreaking development, noted actor Mukul Dev, known for his versatile roles in Hindi and Punjabi cinema as well as popular television shows, passed away at the age of 54 on May 23 in New Delhi. The actor had been battling health issues for some time and was admitted to a hospital in the capital for the past 8 to 10 days.

The sad news was confirmed by actor and close friend Deepshikha Nagpal. “I was in touch with him regularly. We were part of the same friends’ circle, and he often came to Mumbai. He even attended my song launch recently. I’m still in complete shock. He was such a warm and wonderful human being,” she shared emotionally while speaking to SCREEN. “He was active in Punjabi cinema, and we chatted often in our group. Life is truly unpredictable,” she added, recalling their shared moments on film sets with actors like Krushna and Rajniesh.

Mukul Dev was widely appreciated for his impactful performances across mediums, and his sudden demise has left his fans and colleagues deeply saddened.

His elder brother, actor Rahul Dev, took to social media to inform the public of the actor’s passing. Sharing a heartfelt message along with a photograph of Mukul, he wrote, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully last night in New Delhi. He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev, and will be dearly missed by his siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev, and his nephew Sidhant Dev.”

The cremation ceremony is scheduled to take place today at 5 PM in New Delhi.
