Udupi, May 24: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal under the ages of IEEE student branch has organized an awareness programme on opportunities available for faculty and students by associating them with the world’s largest technical professional society The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – IEEE.
Ashwini V R, assistant professor, department of ECE, Canara Engineering College Mangaluru, was the resource person for the event. Initially she briefed the importance of IEEE as a professional society and emphasized the establishment of relevant sub societies under IEEE at the college level.


Later Ashwini V R took the reference of Women in engineering group of IEEE and explained how it benefits the female faculties in networking and collaborating with fellow researchers from academia and industries. She also explained various funding opportunities to explore by the faculty members in terms of Research Grants.
Ashwini V R connected the students with few resource persons through virtual mode who shared their success stories at IEEE.
Jayasudha B S K, senior product engineer, Harman International, Bangaluru shared the story of how IEEE association helped her explore her interest in Digital signal processing and get into her dream job.
Dr Bijuna Kunju K, professor, TKMCE Kollam shared her experience of being student volunteer at IEEE during her college days to her current association as senior members exploring numerous opportunities over the past years.
