New Delhi, May 17: BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya has sharply criticised the Congress party for selecting MPs he described as “controversial” to represent India in diplomatic missions dealing with issues related to terrorism from Pakistan.
Taking to social media platform X, Malviya questioned the inclusion of Rajya Sabha MP Dr Syed Naseer Hussain and Lok Sabha Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi, calling their selection “deeply questionable.”
“It is truly shocking to see Syed Naseer Hussain’s name. Let’s not forget — it was his supporter who shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ inside the Vidhana Soudha after his Rajya Sabha win,” Malviya said, referring to a Bengaluru incident that led to the arrest of three individuals, backed by witness accounts and forensic reports.

Regarding Gaurav Gogoi, Malviya cited allegations made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who claimed Gogoi had visited Pakistan for 15 days, crossing the Attari border, and that his wife, Elizabeth Colebourn, accompanied him for part of the trip.
Sarma had also alleged that Gogoi later took 90 young individuals to the Pakistan Embassy, many of whom were allegedly unaware of their destination. He further raised concerns over Colebourn’s supposed links with the Pakistan Army and employment at a Pakistan-based NGO, questioning potential national security risks.
“How can people facing such allegations be trusted with representing India on matters as sensitive as terrorism linked to Pakistan?” Malviya asked, questioning the Congress leadership’s judgment and motives.
Malviya’s remarks followed a post by Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, listing four party MPs for diplomatic engagements abroad: Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Dr Syed Naseer Hussain, and Raja Brar.
The accusations have added a fresh layer of political tension, especially with India’s global diplomatic stance on terrorism under scrutiny. Congress has not yet issued an official response to Malviya’s allegations.
