New Delhi, May 16: In a significant show of resolve and solidarity, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit the Bhuj Air Force Station in Gujarat on Friday. The strategic base was one of the installations targeted during last week’s military provocation by Pakistan, defence sources have confirmed.
Taking to social media ahead of his departure, Singh stated, “Leaving New Delhi for Bhuj (Gujarat). Looking forward to interact with our courageous Air Warriors at Bhuj Air Force Station.
The visit underscores New Delhi’s firm stance on national security and its commitment to bolster the morale of defence personnel deployed at forward bases.
Singh’s Gujarat tour follows closely on the heels of his Thursday visit to Jammu and Kashmir, where he conducted a high-level review of the overall security preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.
The twin visits reflect the Centre's proactive approach in assessing ground-level realities amid a tense geopolitical climate following the recent India-Pakistan skirmishes.
During his stop at Bhuj, the Defence Minister is expected to be briefed by top Indian Air Force officials on current operational capabilities, damage assessment, and future readiness strategies. He will also interact with air force personnel to boost their morale and convey the government's appreciation for their vigilance and service.
Located close to the India-Pakistan border, Bhuj Air Force Station has long been a vital forward base, playing a crucial role in India’s western defence posture.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions following Pakistan’s targeted actions on Indian military installations last week, which drew strong responses from the Indian defence establishment. While the situation has since de-escalated, the Indian government is leaving no stone unturned in strengthening border preparedness and aerial defence.
