Yenepoya Nursing College celebrates International Nurses Day 2025

Mangaluru, May 13: Yenepoya Nursing College observed International Nurses Day 2025 on May 12 at the Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte.

Following the lighting of the lamp and the offering of flowers to the portrait of Florence Nightingale by the dignitaries, the chief guest, Dr Sr Judy, principal of Father Muller College of Nursing Thumbey, addressing the audience she appreciated the compassionate and dedicated service of nurses within the healthcare profession, drawing an analogy between nurses and a piano, describing them as well-composed individuals who deliver rhythmic service in the healthcare system.

The guest of honor, Prof Lourdraj I, principal of Yenepoya Physiotherapy College, stated in his address that nurses play a vital role in healthcare by providing patients with comprehensive care that addresses their needs. He congratulated the dedicated nurses of the healthcare delivery system and affirmed that nurses are an integral part of the nation's economy. Dr Leena KC, Dean of Yenepoya Nursing College, in her presidential address, emphasized the significant role and the urgent need for nurses' preparedness in emergencies.

She stressed that earning respect and recognition rests on the shoulders of nurses. Dr Priya Aranha, the vice principal, was also present. Prof Shashikumar Jawadagi welcomed the gathering, and Dr Viji Prasad proposed the vote of thanks. Pavithra compered the programme, and Muneeb recited the prayer.

The formal programme was followed by a panel discussion centered on the theme: "Competent care, fulfilling careers: The power of clinical training in nursing." The discussion was moderated by Dr Leena KC and included seven panel members: Dr Priya Reshma Aranha, vice principal; Dr Hezil Reema Barboza, Renita Flavia Monteiro faculty of Yenepoya Nursing College, Tenzin Norzom, BSc (N) intern; KM Sathyadevi, Noothan Laveena Lasrado and Arun Canute D’Souza, leaders from nursing department of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital. The event concluded with cultural performances by students and faculty.
