Udupi, May 10: Annapurna Shenoy, a third-year student of the department of electronics and communication engineering at the Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, has been recognised as an IEEE STEM champion- a prestigious global title awarded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Out of 135 global applications, only 28 volunteers were selected for this honour, and Annapurna Shenoy stands proudly among them, representing not only SMVITM but also the region on an international platform.

The IEEE STEM Champion programme recognises volunteers who have made significant contributions to pre-university STEM education through impactful outreach activities in their communities. These champions play a vital role in advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by engaging with schools, educators, and students to promote early interest in these fields.
As an IEEE STEM Champion, Annapurna will connect local learners with global resources, organise STEM outreach programmes, and inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. IEEE also aims to elevate the role of these champions by empowering them with greater responsibilities, resources, and recognition.
This achievement reflects SMVITM’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible and technically proficient individuals.
The institution congratulates her outstanding accomplishment and wishes her continued success in her mission to advance STEM education.
