New Delhi, May 10: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s "measured and responsible" approach during a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday, amid rising military tensions with Pakistan.

The conversation comes as both nations reportedly exchanged strikes on each other’s military installations, further escalating the volatile situation.

“Had a conversation with US @SecRubio this morning. India’s approach has always been measured and responsible and remains so,” Jaishankar stated in a social media post following the call.

Meanwhile, the US State Department urged both sides to work towards de-escalation. Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that Secretary Rubio emphasized the urgent need for re-establishing direct communication between India and Pakistan to prevent miscalculations.

Rubio also offered US support in facilitating constructive dialogue to avert further conflict, reinforcing Washington’s stance on promoting peace and regional stability.
