New Delhi, Dec 30 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not want to pass the Lokpal bill in the Rajya Sabha and wanted to keep it in limbo, Minister of State for Personnel V. Narayanasamy said Friday and added that the legislation would again come to the house in the budget session.

"It will come to the house in the budget session after talking to all the parties and considering the amendments given by them. Several bills are pending in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha and as far as we are concerned we fulfilled our commitment by bringing the bill in the house," Narayanasamy told a TV channel, a day after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned Thursday midnight leaving the fate of the Lokpal bill in limbo.

Labelling as "bogus" the BJP's allegation that the government choreographed the entire debate in the Rajya Sabha, Narayanasamy said: "Right from the beginning, the BJP's intention was to see that the bill is not passed in parliament … they want to keep it in limbo. It was a BJP-orchestrated drama."

"If the government was not clear then why did we pass the bill in the Lok Sabha despite objections by the BJP. The BJP and other party members disrupted proceedings of the house and did not allow the house to function."

He added that it was not Congress members who disrupted the house but BJP and some other parties.

"In Rajya Sabha when our members are not there we have to take along other party members and it is the duty of all the members to pass the bill but basic amendments which BJP gave are not acceptable to the government," he said.
