Notices to be Issued to Absenting Congress MPs: Narayanasamy

New Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) Taking a serious view of a number of party MPs absenting themselves from the Lok Sabha Tuesday when it took up the Lokpal Bill, the Congress Wednesday said action would be taken against the absent members.

Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy told news channel NDTV 24X7: "Action against absent members will be taken. Show Cause notices will be sent to all the absent MPs."

With at least 15 Congress MPs absenting themselves from the house when voting on the anti-graft bill was taken up, the government failed to win the requisite two-thirds majority to accord constitutional status to the Lokpal -- an idea first mooted in August by general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
