Team Anna to Discuss Strategy for December Protest

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS):Team Anna members will meet in the capital for two days in the second week of December to plan strategy for the proposed protest demanding a strong Lokpal bill, a civil society member said Friday.

"After the one-day protest by Annaji at Jantar Mantar on Dec 11, the team members will sit together and hold a core committee meeting on Dec 14 and 15 to plan and decide the mode of protest which Annaji will conduct from Dec 27," Team Anna member Manish Sisodia said.

The activist has already warned of a major agitation from Dec 27 to Jan 5 at Ramlila ground in central Delhi if changes were not made to the proposed anti-graft law.

Sisodia also expressed his displeasure over the lower bureaucracy being kept out of Lokpal ambit.

"If this happens, Lokpal is not going to work and it will be useless. All the inspectors are covered in Group C, including police inspectors, ration inspectors, junior engineers... if they are excluded from Lokpal, what will the common man get from Lokpal?" Sisodia told a TV channel here.

The parliamentary panel studying the Lokpal bill Thursday favoured exclusion of Group C officials, the bottom layer of government officials, from the anti-graft Lokpal. This led to 10 members submitting a note of dissent on the draft report.
