Westerners need to open their eyes. It is not getting married in India makes the marriage last longer but it is how the couple live after the wedding regardless of the place and tradition they choose to get married. Couple make the wedding or break it not the HINDU traditions.

In India people (politicians, Activists) creates problems for adopting westernization for the sake of publicity.
It is very proud feeling foreigners adopting Indian tradition.
Anytime those people go and congratulate them for doing this?
Never because Media channels never go behind these issues.

The Bond between 2 lasts longer than how they get married in our culture.
Probably they thought the glue to Indian marriage is the Vaishnav Tradition.
Anyways they change their western free mentality & implant the True Indian mentality in that Place to survive the modern lifestyle.
