Bahrain: Students of Yakshagana study center to perform play

Bahrain, May 25: Yakshagana and Bahrain Kannada Sangha have a special relationship. The first Yakshagana play was shown in Bahrain. Therefore, Yakshagana plays are being held every now and then here.

The island has Yakshopasana Yakshagana study center at Kannada Bhavan here. Hundreds of students are learning Yakshagana under the direction of Natyaguru Deepak Rao Pejavar in it. The students had successfully performed a Yakshagana play last year and entertained the well-wishers of Yakshagana. They are preparing to perform 'Asika Parinaya – Jambavati Kalyana' play this year. The play will be shown at Kannada Bhavana auditorium, Manama at 5.30 pm on May 31.

The play will be performed under the direction of Natyaguru Deepak Rao Pejavar. Guest artists Saudi Arabia based Roshan S Kotian, background musicians Harish Salian, Ganesh Kateel and the students will display their talent. Veteran artist Mohan Edaneer will cooperate in the show. Costumes management will be of Ram Prasad Ammenadka. Yahshagana Guru K Mohan Baipadithaya of the motherland will be felicitated on behalf of the island for his contribution to Yakshagana. Meals will be served after the show. Yaksha Guru Deepak Pejavar has requested well-wishers of Yakshagana to arrive in large numbers and grace the occasion.
