Udupi, May 3: “Udupi District Congress denounces the alleged rapes and sexual violations by MP Prajwal Revanna, which have garnered national attention. The actions of Prajwal Revanna, described as those of a ‘sex maniac’, were brought to light through a pen drive. The reported sexual encounters involve an individual who is the grandson of a former Indian prime minister, the nephew of a former Karnataka chief minister, the son of a former minister, and is himself an MP. The alleged sexual assaults against hundreds of women by him prompt us to question if the country still upholds its constitution. "The association of this criminal figure with the Modi family raises concerns about whether he has the support of Modi," expressed Udupi District Mahila Congress president Geeta Wagle, conveying deep anguish.
She further stated, "Though BJP workers in Hassan urged not to allow Prajwal to contest the current Lok Sabha elections, the BJP party issued a ticket to preserve its coalition with the JDS. Their consent has strengthened our suspicions. BJP would have shown its violent form across the country if such a crime was committed by a person belonging to any other religion. The recent murder of Neha has shown it. Modi, Amit Shah and other BJP leaders had tried to drag the case. It was a tool for Lok Sabha elections. But BJP leaders are quiet about the Prajwal Revanna sex scandal. The murder of Neha was brutal and condemnable. Her killers should be punished severely. Similarly, Prajwal Revanna has sexually assaulted several women regardless of their age, proudly recording the act with the intention of blackmailing them. It shows his cruelty. Why does the BJP not condemn it? We have compassion towards his victims who were dragged to the bed by Prajwal taking undue advantage of their helplessness. What does BJP Mahila Morcha do? BJP had considered seriously the keeping of a camera in the ladies' toilet and urged that Muslims should be sent out and should not be admitted in the college. Will this appear as ordinary for them? It is unfortunate that JDS whose symbol is of a woman carrying newly grown paddy is being misused as a tool of lust.
"Udupi district Mahila Congress strongly protests against the incident and asks BJP leaders if it will continue its coalition even after such shameful incidents.
"Our state government under the leadership of Siddaramaiah should conduct suitable investigations into the case and punish accused Prajwal Revanna. He should be ordered to return to India immediately. He should not be allowed to escape from punishment. The victims of his sexual assaults should obtain justice. Udupi District Congress will always stand by those sisters," she said.
KPCC spokesperson Veronica Cornelio remarked that women should condemn the incident. "National-level leaders had visited during the Udupi incident. Do they perceive the current incident as too insignificant?" she asked.
Mahila Congress leaders Jyothi Hebbar, Amrita Krishnamurthy, Chandrika Shetty and others were present.
