Kundapur: Tree falls on house, three injured

Kundapur, Apr 22: A mango tree was uprooted and fell on the house of Gulabi Shetty, a resident of Holeshankaranarayana in Hosangadi village on the night of April 20 due to high-velocity winds.

The kitchen and bathroom of the house were damaged due to the tree fall. Gulabi Shetty and her daughters, Sujatha and Savitha, sustained injuries in the mishap and have been admitted to the hospital in Kundapur. Rajeeva Shetty, husband of Gulabi Shetty, sustained minor injuries and returned home after receiving first aid. The estimated loss is Rs one lac.

The two-storey house was occupied by two families. Former MLA B M Sukumar Shetty and other Congress leaders met with the family members and offered their condolences. Village accountant Chandrashekhara Murthy and officials from the Hosangady gram panchayat visited the house and submitted a report to the taluk administration.
