Sullia, Apr 6: A wild elephant was spotted at the Muroor check post near Mandekolu village on the Karnataka-Kerala border on Thursday night.

The check post was opened at Muroor in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The elephant appeared within a stone's throw of the check post on the road. It is reported that the pachyderm left for the forest after crossing the road. Officials and staff at the check post observed the lone tusker and promptly informed the matter to the forest department.

Officials from the Karnataka and Kerala forest departments rushed to the spot. Personnel manning the check post, as well as vehicle riders and drivers, are in a state of panic due to the sighting of the wild tusker.
