Sringeri (Chikkamagaluru), Mar 26: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday visited the Sringeri Sharada Math in Chikkamagaluru district and sought the blessings of the Jagadguru Sri Bharatitheerta Mahaswamy.

Earlier in the morning, he visited the Sri Manjunatha Swamy temple in Dharmasthala and had a darshan of Lord Manjunatha Swamy.

Shivakumar also called on Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala D Veerendra Heggade.

The KPCC chief, who spoke to media persons during his piligrimage to the two most revered religious centres in the coastal Dakshina Kannada district and the neighbouring Chikkamagaluru district, said he had sought divine blessings before undertaking the Dharmayuddha of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Shivakumar said he was happy at the preparations of the KPCC for the elections and said the Congress government’s guarantees will help the Congress party to obtain the people’s support as the guarantees have helped all sections of society, especially the poor and women.

‘’We have kept our promises made during the assembly polls and people are supporting us. Now, after fulfilling the promises and implementing the guarantees, I am confident that the people will bless us,’’ he said pointing out that the Shakti guarantee of free bus travel to women in all government buses throughout the State has helped more and more women to travel and visit temples and that will help us in the end.
