Mangaluru: Seventh annual day celebration held at Daya Special School

Mangaluru, Mar 22: Annual day celebration was organized at Daya Special School on March 22. Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director of CKSK Belthangady presided over the programme.

Fr Stany Govias, parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Madanthyar, Lancy Rodrigus, life member of KCWA, Felix Richard D’Souza,  John Menejus, president, senior citizen club, Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri, Chaithra D, president, Vimukti SHG Federation, Fr Rohan Lobo, assistant director, CKSK, Sandeep, manager, Abharana Jewellers, Belthangady, Divya T Verghese, headmistress Daya Special School, Shubhakar, parent representative and Saleel, student representative were present on the dais.  


Fr Stany Govias, parish priest, Sacred Heart Church, Madanthyar was the chief guest of program and inaugurated the program by flowering on the book of Indian constitution. In his inaugural speech, he said, the name ‘Daya’ is a heart pounding word. Daya means mercy. Basaveshwara has rightly said in Kannada that “Dayeyillada Dharma Yavudayya?.. Dayeye Dharmada Moolavayya..” All the religious books in Hinduism, Islam and Christianity teach us about the mercy. By seeing the work that the management, staffs and non teaching staffs doing here, I believe that the God’s words have come true and we feel it by seeing in the face of these little ones. Once I had visited to this school and I personally witnessed all the activities carried over by the school and it is very much appreciable. I wish all the best for their future endeavours and I thank all the donors and supporters behind this school and request your support may continue in the future. By appreciating the works of all the staffs he concluded his speech.

The chief guest of the program, John Menezes, the president of the senior citizen club, Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri, has said, we are really happy and feel blessed by visiting this place of god. We are able to feel the presence of god with these children. I and my team members of senior citizen club have visited today and we have collected some amount for the sake of these children and for their betterment and we are doing it for the sake of the god. I request Fr Vinod to continue the good work and wish all the success in his future endeavours.

All the guests distributed the gifts for all the children and the children who passed their SSLC exam in the year 2022-2023 were provided their SSLC certificates.

Later, Fr Vinod Mascarenhas along with all the dignitaries on the stage honoured Felix Richard D’Souza, Mangalore and Lancy Rodrigus, life member of KCWA and for their kind hearted support towards the children of Daya Special School and said, today we have honoured Lancy Rodrigus on behalf of KCWA. He is serving as the life member of KCWA and he himself with his some of the friends had founded the KCWA association. When we were in the financial dilemma in the initial stage of starting the Daya Special School, KCWA had come forwarded by giving us Rs.13,00,000 for the construction and for the basic infrastructures and from that day onwards, KCWA is supporting us in all our works. Through each one teach one campaign they have supported us to accomplish our dreams. I have met Mr. Felix D’Souza before last year and he is assured his support in our upcoming projects and he is motivating and supporting us always. And we thank all our donors for their kind heart and good will and may God bless them all.

Lancy Rodrigus, life member of KCWA said, today I have honoured by Daya, but I believe it is for KCWA and for its good work in the society. The main intension of establishing the KCWA is to support the education of the poor needy children. The smaller children are always supported for their education but to fulfil the dreams of the youths, we are supporting them to continue their higher education. Today I am appreciating the work of Management and all the staffs for their hard work and you are rendering your selfless service towards these innocent children. By congratulating the management for all the good works he concluded his speech.

At last all the guests in the stage were provided with the mementoes prepared by the children. Joel Attur, Silver Tone Music Group and his team performed Orchestra and made the children dance and sing. Children performed various cultural programs and enjoyed their day.

Rashmi managed the program, Merin Welcomed the gathering and Jenvira Vaz thanked the gathering.

Nearly 200 parents, well wishers and donors along with 90 children participated in the programme.
