Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School students excel in Green Olympiad Examination

Mangaluru, Mar 14: Lourdes Central School had organized Green Olympiad on October 12, 2023 conducted by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute), New Delhi.

Olympiad is designed for the students of classes IV to XII. The overall objective of this initiative is to sensitize and enhance the knowledge of students on environment, sustainability and green skills.

Green Olympiad examination addresses a range of topics such as water, waste, energy, air, biodiversity, climate, global warming, sustainable development, culture, green skills and current affairs pertaining to the environment and sustainable development.

Examination was conducted in four levels:

Level 1 – Grade IV and V

Level 2 – Grade VI, VII and VIII

Level 3 – Grade IX and X

Level 4 – Grade XI and XII

The Green Olympiad Examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions of 50 points each and every question was relevant to the environment.

There were 173 participants from classes IV to XII. Paaravi Prakash of class IV D, Jane Venitia Valerian Moras and Sreevaishnavi N of class X A received the certificate of distinction. Sixty-six participants received the certificate of merit. All participants received a participation certificate.

The students can begin preparing by reading environment-related publications and periodicals. They should read ‘Down to Earth’ and ‘Terra Green’ magazines to answer the Green Olympiad.
