Moodbidri, Mar 10: Carmel School celebrated women's day with fervour and enthusiasm, showcasing a diverse and engaging programme.

The event kicked off with a soulful prayer song, skillfully performed by the students. A mesmerizing welcome dance dedicated to the essence of womanhood captivated the audience, setting the tone for the celebration. Rishon Shannon D'Souza, Zion Rego, and Mohammad Abheer warmly welcomed the gathering.

Sabitha Monis, children's welfare officer at Alva's Education Foundation, served as the chief guest for the programme. Sr Preena A C, the vice- principal, and coordinators Sr Ranitha and Sr Rosy, graced the occasion with their presence.

A highlight of the occasion was a captivating mime show that artfully portrayed the journey of womanhood. Through poignant performances, the students brought to life the various phases and challenges faced by women, creating a powerful and thought-provoking visual narrative. The skit dance showcased a theme celebrating women's excellence in various roles and fields, portraying a dynamic fusion of talent.

The chief guest, in her insightful speech, elucidated the significance of women's day and provided a deeper understanding of the reasons behind the celebration. She eloquently highlighted the multifaceted roles women play in both society and family, emphasizing their indispensable contributions.

Adding a personal touch to her address, the chief guest courageously shared her own experience of living with a disability, showcasing resilience and inspiring all attendees. Her openness contributed to a more inclusive and empathetic atmosphere during the celebration.

In a commendable recognition ceremony, Sabitha Monis was honoured for her outstanding contribution to society through dedicated social service, receiving acknowledgment for inspiring others despite facing physical challenges.

Sr Preena A C also extended a warm wish for international women's day and encouraged students in her address to appreciate and respect every girl child and woman.

Moreover, Sr Preena AC expressed appreciation for the efforts of grade 3 B and C, along with their class teachers Harini and Diana, for orchestrating a meaningful programme.

The event also celebrated students who excelled in competitive exams such as the silver zone Olympiad, IFSE exams and state-level vedic maths, with deserving individuals being honoured with medals and certificates for their remarkable achievements.

Naithik, Arhant, Arya, Asla, Christal, Ayesha, Anika, Yukti, and Keertika collaborated to host the programme, while Sweezel delivered a commendable speech honouring the guest. Significance of the day was explained by Snehil Salian. Vote of thanks was proposed by Anson Pinto and Riyon Dias.

The women's day celebration at Carmel School was a resounding success, weaving together artistic performances and meaningful discussions to honour and appreciate the invaluable role of women in our lives.
