Mangaluru: Women’s Day celebration held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Mar 7: The Alumni Association members along with the members of women’s cell celebrated International Women’s Day and felicitated the women achievers in various fields.

The programme began with a prayer song and welcome dance by the students of the college. The chief guest of the day Gisselle Mehta, author, public intellectual and alumna of the college, Sr Dr Venissa A C the principal, Marjorie Texeira vice-president and Vivid D'Souza, secretary of the alumni association and Blairil Vishma D'Cunha, women’s cell coordinator were present.

Principal Sr Dr Venissa A C welcomed the gathering. The student achievers of the college were honoured by the awards instituted by the Agnesian Alumni Association.

Agnesian outstanding leader award instituted by Carol Pais in honour of her parents Philip and Mariette Pais was awarded to Shainy Manisha Pinto of III BCom.

The most talented Agnesian Award instituted by Marjorie Texeira was awarded to Trisha Shetty of III BA. The best scholar award instituted by Dr Meera Aranha was awarded to Meghana Rao of III BSc. The best sportswoman instituted by Daisy Coelho was awarded to Prerana III BCom.

The student achievers who excelled in ACCA exam were honoured during the occasion. Lisa Andrea Pinto who graduated in June 2023 with first rank in BCom ACCA and secured AIR first rank and worldwide sixth rank in Advanced Performance Management paper of ACCA was felicitated.

Alisha Saldanha of III BCom ACCA who secured AIR first rank and worldwide second rank in Financial Management paper of ACCA in March 2023, and AIR first Rank and worldwide sixth rank in Audit and Assurance paper of ACCA in September 2023 was felicitated.

Sherlieta Monteiro of III BCom ACCA who has completed 9 out of 13 papers of the ACCA examination and secured AIR second rank and worldwide seventh rank in Audit and Assurance paper of ACCA in September 2023 was felicitated.

Three eminent alumna of the college Gisselle Mehta, Nayana Fernandes and Anette Menezes who have authored various books and contributed to the literature, were honoured by the alumni association.

Jassel D'Souza compered the programme and Vivid D'Souza, secretary of alumni association proposed a vote of thanks. Under graduate and post graduate students of the college and the members of the alumni association were present.
