Udupi: South India Masters Athletic Championship tournament to be held on Mar 9, 10

Udupi, Mar 6: The second South India Masters Athletic Championship tournament will be held at Mahatma Gandhi District Sports Ground here under the aegis of Udupi Masters Athletic Association on March 9 and 10, announced Surendra Shetty, president of the organization and proprietor of Sahana Company, Koteshwar.

A total of 773 sports persons between the ages of 30 and 80 from South Indian states - Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, and Karnataka - have registered their names to participate in the tournament. Snacks, meals, and accommodation are already arranged for the participants, and T-shirts are being distributed to them.

The inauguration of the tournament will be done by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna. Karnataka State Backward Class Commission President, former minister, and past MP Jayaprakash Hegde will also be present. MLC Manjunath Bhandary, Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar, Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA K Gopala Poojary, entrepreneurs Prasad Raj Kanchan, Udaya Shetty Muniyal, Dinesh Hegde, Karkala Lions Club president M G F Lion Sachendra Shetty, and others are expected to participate in the event.
